The State Bar of Michigan fiscal year is October 1 through September 30.

Members joining between October 1 and March 31 are required to submit $415 for active status or $277.50 for inactive status.

Members joining between April 1 and September 30 are required to submit $207.50 for active status or $138.75 for inactive status.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: If your application is approved, you will be issued a license to practice law no sooner than October 1, 2026. If you need to be licensed to practice law in September 2026, you MUST contact us at SBMfinance@michbar.org to pay your license fees and complete mandatory disclosures for the current Bar year.
